Emerald Estate Nageswari Amman Temple (Kemuning Utama,Shah Alam)

Dewi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple,
(Emerald Estate Nageswari Amman Temple)
Jalan Kemuning Prima, J33/J,
 Kemuning Utama

Kemuning Utama: A short History

Kemuning Utama was once known as Emerald Estate and for generations this temple was the spiritual refuge for the early Indians of this plantation.Like the other estates which once made up most modern day Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Klang, this estate was also dismantled and redeveloped into a new township called Kemuning Utama. The pioneers of this landscape have since moved out or adapted to the new urban environment. Therefore, little trace is left of those brave men and women who once lived here. However this temple continues to be frequented by the faithful who once lived here besides also being a spiritual centre for the new generation of Hindus who have come to live in the newly established residential areas nearby, The building of a magnificent new temple is currently in progress with a grand temple tower or Rajagopuram (at the entrance) which will soon gaze majestically over Kemuning Utama and Taman Sri Muda.

This Nageswari Amman of Emerald Estate and was originally located opposite the Emerald Estate Tamil School along Jalan Bukit Kemuning and back then both were clearly visible from the main road as they were located side by side. However things have changed now after years of development and the temple is no longer visible from the main road. Instead it has been moved to a site beside the newly renovated Emerald Tamil school which sits in an impressive compound of its own.
